We ended last year with a big sigh of relief. My twins have had a rough road. Like many parents, we get into a routine when our children are babies and the world around us feels typical. Milestones were on track. Pediatrician appointments scheduled and no alarm bells from the “screening” paperwork they had us fill out.
Arriving five weeks early, the birth of my twins was traumatic.. After two weeks of being in the NICU we were excited to bring them home. This began our family bubble, and I mean bubble. We were on our own! My husband and I figured it out, after all we had to keep them alive, right!
At first, especially having a boy and a girl, I expected developmental variances. But as time went by and we ventured out into the world I began to question things. Each of my children faced the world in their own unique way. I, as their mom, had to figure out how to support their uniqueness. Just like an iceberg, the more I am discovering about each child, the more questions I have. The more directions I find myself pulled in.
My hope for this blog is to provide parents and caregivers of our lovely children some direction. I also want to offer some guidance on how to navigate caring for these icebergs!
